Where are you from, and what brought you to Germany?
I’m a woman in my 20s, originally from Kyiv, Ukraine. I had to flee my country due to the Russian invasion, and luckily I was accepted in Germany. After completing several courses and passing three language exams within 1–2 years, I reached C1 level and was accepted into university here 👏🏼
Frequently Asked Questions ࣪⊹
How did you learn German?
I was clueless when I first arrived in Germany and tried relying on English, but in my small town, few spoke it 😅 Although I had German in school, I arrived at A1 max. So, my first year was all about learning: integration and university classes, tutoring, and lots of self-study.
What are your favourite resources or books for learning?
Check out the books I use most here! Also, book are great, but you can’t rely on them alone 👀— I also love podcasts and YouTubers for listening and real-life practice.
What inspired you to create content about German learning?
There are a lot of amazing German-focused pages on IG, but I always felt there was a lack of studygram-style content with practical tips, tricks, and "inspo". I wanted to fill that niche 💖
What advice would you give someone just starting to learn German?
There are lots of resources, but stick to the basics: one textbook, one grammar book, and additional videos, podcasts, or reading on topics you enjoy.
If you’re completely new to language learning, group classes are a great way to get started 💭
