If you’re learning German, you probably know this feeling:
You sit down to study… open your notes… maybe start a lesson… and then suddenly you’re on your phone or switching between five different resources.
⏱️ The problem isn’t motivation: it’s focus.
That’s where the Pomodoro Technique can completely change how you learn German.
What is the Pomodoro Technique? ⏱️
It’s a simple method that helps you stay focused by breaking your study time into short, structured session. Instead of saying “I’ll study German for 3 hours”, you just focus on one small session at a time.
But HOW do you use it?

1. Set a timer (25–60 minutes) ⏳
Choose one task:
learning vocabulary
doing grammar exercises
working with structured materials (like templates or guided notes)
practicing speaking
Focus only on German 🎯 >>> No switching apps, no multitasking — just full immersion.
2. Take a 5–10 minute break ☕
Step away. Let your brain process what you just learned.
3. Repeat 4 times 🔁
Each session can focus on something different (e.g. vocab → grammar → listening → speaking).
4. Take a longer break 🌿
After four sessions, take a proper rest.
